AVALANCHE RESCUE BASICS - This is a non-required class for KC Ski Patrollers who want to learn or freshen up their basic avalanche rescue skills. The learned skill set for this class will be how to use an avalanche transceiver, organize and participate in a probe line, and how to dig out burried victoms. Please plan on skiing the mountain, standing around in the snow, and getting down and dirty with a shovel! These topics will be more of a skills station enviornment rather than a mock avalanche incident. Those of you who will be attending this class and have personal avalanche rescue equipment (transceiver, probe, and shovel) please bring them.

AVALANCHE EDUCATION 101 - For those of you who are interested in learning more about avalanches, this will be a fun class i'd like to put together. This non-required class that will discuss a more scientific look at how avalanches form, the associated terrain, and snow stability tests. This class will answer some of the reasons why it has only happened once at Kelly Canyon yet explain the mechanics of why it could happen during certain weather events and snow pack conditions in our off piste (terrain not run over by the groomer) areas within the Kelly Canyon operating boundaries. For this class, we will be skiing various areas of intermediate/advanced off piste terrain (Moose Face, the BLM Bowl, and East Boundary Line). If you have personal avalanche rescue equipment, please bring it for this class.
